Start to Finish

I have been toying with the idea of doing a full home tour for a while now.  When I did a recent guest post I decided it was time.  I have no idea why it took me so long to share my home when I am more than happy to share everyone else.  I've also added a tab at the top so you can always re-visit our humble abode.
Hope you like!

I figure it makes the most since to start with the front of the house and work my way through and I hope to do one room a week.  But don't hold me to that, because then I'll want to break the rules...

This is what the house looked like on MLS.  Cute enough to get you hooked and not let you see what's really going on {with the exception of the crazy bushes out front}.

Like all the chipping paint, the rotting porch, the two different color window seals that are also chipping away and the precious arrangement of faux daisies in faux moss.  I'm sorry, when did daisies start growing in moss?

And other than the tongue and groove ceiling...there's nothing good about this picture.
First order of business, take down the faux daises and valance. I'm still trying to figure out why you would need a valance on an outside window.  The little jail cell gate came down and everything was either replaced {like the porch}, pressure washed, repaired, or painted.

We had a new roof put on, replaced all the windows with energy efficient ones, had all the wood pressure washed, repaired, and painted, and added gutters.  We also landscaped and trimmed out the flower beds {that weren't even flower beds...you can't throw pine straw down and call it landscaping, people!}
Now this is where we call home!

We hung our front porch swing that had been in storage {I was so happy to see that thing again} and added two rocking chairs.  I used cushions we already had, just for the time being.

Since, I have given our little front porch a makeover and I love it!

Thanks for joining me.  I can already tell this is going to be fun, for me anyway.
I will continue to add pictures as I make changes or additions to this space, so make sure and check out the home tour at the top of the page!

What 'cha think?!

  1. Such a huge improvement! The porch swing looks so inviting, especially with that awesome fabric. What was up with the outdoor window valance? Crazy!
