Friendly Spaces: Crazy Wonderful

First, thank yall for your sweet comments about yesterdays little art venture.  It was definitely fun, and I might try it again sometime!
Ok, so I'm really, reeeally excited about today's little lady!  Shelley at Crazy Wonderful is sharing one of the cutest big girl rooms, eva!  Not to mention Shelley is just all out awesome anyway.  She just totally revamped her little lady's play set...prego and all!  Yup, she's the bomb.

Hey guys!  I'm Shelley from Crazy Wonderful, and I'm way pumped to be here today sharing my friendly space with all of you!

My favorite space in our home is currently my daughter Izzy's room.  I'm pretty sure this kid would agree with me.
The main reason I love this room is because it's a combination of everything I'm into right now; light gray walls, loads of white with bright colors tossed in, and a mix of old and new.  What makes it even more special to me are that some of the old pieces are her great-grandmothers :)

Here's what we started with.  A complete mess.

I really challenged myself to get this room done as cost effectively as I could without sacrificing my must haves and giving her a space she could grow with.

One of my must haves was a big ol tufted headboard.  Since those pups don't come cheap I decided to make it myself.  It ended up being one of my favorite items in here.

For the remaining furniture pieces I went with a distressed look.  Mostly because kids can be tough on furniture. Izzy really liked to "organize" her room. This usually entails the small tables, rocking chair, books, and stuffed animals being moved all over the place. So, if a table gets bumped and the paint chips, it won't be noticeable. It will just add to it's already distressed look. At least, that's what I tell myself!

Her great-grandmother's dresser got an update with the help of AS chalk paint and silver Rub and Buff on the hardware.  You may have noticed its before condition in the room's before pictures.  I'm completely smitten with it now.

My second must have for her room was a reading nook and a place to display her books.  Izzy LOVES being able to "shop" for a book at bedtime.

It was a very simple space to create using her great-grandmother's wingback that I slipcovered, and reworking some shelves I wasn't using anymore. Toss in a lamp, a little table, and you're good to go!

In the end her room came together for a total of $350!!!  Yeah boy!  Here's to using what you've already got, and DIYing the heck out of everything else :D

Thanks for having me over Jessamie!
